"God, teach me lessons for living so I can stay the course. Give me insight so I can do what you tell me—my whole life one long, obedient response."
Psalm 119:33-34 (Message)

Quote of the Day

Guilt is concerned with the past. Worry is concerned about the future. Contentment enjoys the present.

Quote of the Day

"So we don't look at the troubles we have right now; rather, we look forward to what we have not yet seen. For the troubles we see will soon be over, but the joys to come will last forever."
2 Corinthians 4:18

Quote of the Day

This was in an email that my mom sent me today and made me think....
"We think so badly of old Judas for betraying the Lord for 30 pieces of silver, but how many times do we betray him for nothing?"
After he had said this, Jesus was troubled in spirit and testified, "I tell you the truth, one of you is going to betray me." -- John 13:21

Bubbles ...

Now that the weather is warming up the boys love to go outside and play with bubbles. What is it about a simple thing that can entertain us by either blowing bubbles - which can be very therapeutic - or chasing bubbles to pop.
Learning to blow bubbles can be very tricky. You have to blow just hard enough to get the bubble out but be careful if you blow to hard you pop the bubble before it can even take off.
But when you figure out how much to blow you get a cool bubbles that floats in the air.
Bubbles are so cool.

Quote of the Day

Awhile back my mom found this book for me (God Calling). I have enjoyed reading it each day and came across this a few days ago.

"Faith is too priceless a possession to be sacrificed in order to purchase knowledge. But Faith itself is based on a knowledge of Me."

So often we want to know what is going to happen or know what to do or just know something to make things better...Sometimes the best thing to just know is God and trust that He is working and in control no matter what life looks like right now.

Dancing With God

My mom sent me this in an email. I don't know who it is from but I liked it. Hope you enjoy it.

When I meditated on the word Guidance,

I kept seeing "dance" at the end of the word.

I remember reading that doing God's will is a lot like dancing.

When two people try to lead, nothing feels right.

The movement doesn't flow with the music,

and everything is quite uncomfortable and jerky.

When one person realizes that, and lets the other lead,

both bodies begin to flow with the music.

One gives gentle cues, perhaps with a nudge to the back

or by pressing Lightly in one direction or another.

It's as if two become one body, moving beautifully.

The dance takes surrender, willingness,

and attentiveness from one person

and gentle guidance and skill from the other.

My eyes drew back to the word Guidance.

When I saw "G: I thought of God, followed by "u" and "i".

"God, "u" and "i" dance."

God, you, and I dance.

Quote of the Day

Remember that when you can't see His hand, you can trust His heart!
- Mom (Verna Brust)

I was talking to my mom this morning about something that made me feel defeated and this is what she said at the end of it all. And really this is all that I needed to hear right now. So if anything this quote today is for me but I hope you can be encouraged by it as well.
Thank you mom, I love you.

How Blessed am I....

For those of you who do not know me very well I suffer from sever migraines. Yesterday I woke up with a bad headache and stayed home to rest and try to get rid of it but last night it became really bad. So Danny stayed up with me to help me control it.

What makes him GREAT is what he did today. The day after a bad migraine for me I am weak and tired, I have to basically to nothing to keep it from returning. So Danny got up with the boys and took care of them this morning. He brought me back something that I can have from Starbucks. He rearranged his schedule to work from home so I could rest today. No only did he do that he took care of the kids, did some laundry, prepared dinner for tonight, fed the kids, vacumed the house, cleaned doors, cleaned the bathroom, and the kitchen. WOW I am soooo lucky to have someone so great take care of me. I now don't have to worry how these things are going to get done with me taking a whole day to do nothing.

Just wanted you to know how great he is and how blessed I am to have him in my life.

Thank you Danny - I love you!!!

Quote of the Day

All we want in Christ, we shall find in Christ. If we want little, we shall find little. If we want much, we shall find much; but if, in utter helplessness, we cast our all on Christ, He will be to us the whole treasury of God.

Quote of the Day

I walked a mile with Pleasure,
She chatted me all the way,
But I was none the wiser
For what she had to say.

I walked a mile with Sorrow,
An ne'er a word said she,
But O the things I learned from her
When Sorrow walked with me!
- Anonymous

It seems no matter who I talk to sorrow is going on in every one's life or it just ended or they don't know it yet but it is just around the corner. But I think it is very true about the lessons we learn when sorrow is in our life - I know I am.

Pictures

Here are some pics that I took this past weekend. And you can see the whale we followed too.

These are some really pretty trees that we pass on Old River and they were starting to bloom so with no kids in the car I stopped and took some pictures.

Restful Weekend

This past weekend was a wonderful time away all by myself. Yep there was no one else with me (except Sunday night when I hung out with my mom). I enjoyed some much needed quiet alone time. Thanks to my wonderful husband who let me take some time for me.

Some highlights were:
~getting to see a whale in the ocean
~a long hot bath with no interruptions
~dinner at Lucille's BBQ (although I did not like the brisket, but the biscuit and apple butter-yum)
~Yummy lunch at Wahoos
~Ability to walk around shops without being rushed.
~going to bed before 10pm (I can't remember the last time I did that)
~beautiful weather
~a great time with my mom and a good dinner
~Time to talk to God and hearing Him speak to me

The weekend was not what I expected but it was a nice time and I feel refreshed.
